APF 2K8 League Rules (AFSL)

(All Pro Football Simulation Premier League) Rules (APF 2K8 Release)

League rules are based on fair play and respect for your fellow owner. We are a community with a primary goal to provide a medium for owners to have FUN while encouraging competitive play. The bottom line is to have FUN win or lose. Owners are expected to uphold principles of sportsmanship and fair play at all times and will refrain from running up the score. Communication is a building block for our leagues. We mandate the wearing of headsets during each league game and encourage conversation between owners. We are as much in this for the community building aspect as the competitive league play. Owners will be polite and refrain from the use of offensive or abusive language. This is not tolerated under any circumstances. Each owner will play fairly without the use of known glitches or cheats. Non-sportsmanship like behavior will result in your removal from the league. If owners do not respect the league, fellow owners, and its rules you will be removed. This is your warning so removal will be immediate. Everyone is required to read the rules. Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse.

Fair Play and Sportsmanship

All disagreements and disputes are to be handled in a professional manner, in private, and involve the owners and commissioner(s). Any public display of disrespect toward your opponent, either on the forums or league daddy, will result in your removal from the league. All owners will play within the spirit of the game. Running the same play over and over to take advantage of a flaw in the game is prohibited. Quitting is strictly prohibited. Above all, use common sense and play the game like it is meant to be played. If you follow those two guidelines, you will not have to worry about "cheese" or “glitches”. I am assuming that most of you know the rules of football and the spirit of the game, and if you have any problems/thoughts/concerns let commissioner(s) know.

Game Setup

1.
Lobby: Custom
2. Difficulty: Legend
3. Quarter Length: 6 minutes
4. Injuries: On
5. Auto Strafe: Off
6. Multiple Hot Routes: On
7. Performance EQ: Off
8. All others: Default Setting

Game Play Rules - Anti-Cheese/Glitch (Include but are not limited to):

1. If they do not do it on Sunday then do not do it in this league!
2. Quarterbacks can only perform:

  • Three (3) step drop;
  • Five (5) step drop;
  • Seven (7) step drop;
  • Ten (10) step drop (minimal occurrences).

3. Defensive lineman must be in a 3-pt stance.

4. Defensive lineman must maintain their respective positions i.e. the defensive tackle (DT) cannot line up outside of the defensive end (DE).

5. DE is not permitted to line up any further outside than the outside shoulder of the offensive tackle (OT).

6. Position changes are limited to the below only:

  • Interchange CB/FS/SS
  • Interchange LB/LB
  • Interchange DL/DL
  • Interchange RB/FB (Meaning you can have 2 RB in the backfield)

7. Abuse of the cadence to draw defense offsides is not permitted. An owner can use cadence as many times as he so chooses in a game but is allowed only two (2) offsides penalties a half. After two (2) offsides penalties occur in a half the owner must decline all future offsides penalties for that half.

8. No quick snaps are permitted unless you are in a hurry up offense toward the end of the game or half. You must give your opponent the opportunity to change/select the player to control on defense. However, you do not have to wait for the opponent to call a defensive audible i.e. if you audible on offense you can snap when you are ready.

9. Excessive use of trick plays will not be tolerated i.e. flea flickers and halfback passes should not be used more than once a game.

10. No running up the score. If you feel the need to run up the score you will be removed from the league.

11. Fourth down conversions are restricted to realistic situations. An example, fourth (4th) and two (2) from your own 35 is NOT acceptable unless you are trailing mid to late fourth (4th) quarter.

Kickoff Return Rules

1. Use of the kickoff glitch will not be tolerated. The best description of this is kicking the ball low and to the sideline causing the return man to either not get to the kick in time, causing the ball to bounce off the return man as he tries to make the catch, or causing the return man to get stuck in an animation which causes him to fall down, slow down, or get taken out of bounds.

2. Onside kickoffs are allowed in applicable situations. They are NOT to be abused.

3. Onside kickoffs that do not travel the required ten (10) yards and the kicking team receives a penalty, which is automatically declined, cannot attempt another onside kick. You must kick a normal kickoff at this point.

4. All kickoffs are to be kicked so that the return man can catch the kick standing still. As long as you give the kick returner the ability to start from stationary position you can kick wherever you choose to on the field.

5. Kickoffs can be kicked short or intentionally out of bounds after an opponent has run a kickoff back for a touchdown. However, you still cannot violate rule #1.

6. At the end of the half, or game, if a player is up by a single possession then the player may kick it short to avoid the primary kick returner.

Formation Specific Changes

1. TE for FB - Goaline ONLY

2. TE(s) for WR - your other two starting WR's must also be on the field in their main WR spots. i.e. TE(s) must be in slot or split spots.

3. RB(s) for WR - your other two starting WR's must also be on the field in their main WR spots. i.e. RB(s) must be in slot or split spots.

4. Kick Off Returners - Any type of player may be used as a kick/punt returner regardless of their position or their tier (gold, silver, bronze, or generic).

League and Team Structure

1. Each ASPL season will consist of 2 conferences with 5-7 teams each. Currently there will be the Midwest Football Conference (MFC) and the Eastern Football Conference (EFC).

2. Below is the Season one Division structure: (Subject to change as more teams are added each season)

MFC – North
Cincinnati
Cleveland
Pittsburgh

MFC - West
KC
San Diego
St. Louis

EFC – East
Dallas
Washington
NY Giants
Philly

EFC – North East
NY Jets
Miami
New England

3. Games will be played chronologically following the posted schedule. There will be no open schedule for owners to play multiple or differing weeks. This rule is to establish league unity and to allow for comparable team records and statistics.

4. Each team owner will select and register the NFL Team that they wish to create and manage. From the most current and active NFL team rosters the owner will select and create two gold tier players, 3 silver tier players and 6 bronze tier players. Each created player must logically be matched up to his estimated skill set.

5. The AFSL is based on the honesty of its' owners to apply the proper approved tiers and attributes to their created players.

6. Achievements: In AP2K8, the game is setup in a way that if you unlock all of the achievements (1000 points), you are able to select more attributes for your created players. We ask you in the effort to keep the playing field as a fair and even as possible that you only select the base amount of attributes. Those are as follows:

  • Gold = 3 Attributes
  • Silver = 2 Attributes
  • Bronze = 1 Attribute

7. All created rosters MUST have the tier level and the applied attributes that logically match each players ability. Each team roster MUST be approved by the Commissioner(s). Rosters can not be submitted for approval until they are posted in the appropriate forum and discussed by ALL league owners.

8. Once your roster is approved there will be NO position changes until after the season is complete.

9. You are permitted to make player changes for your approved roster positions. i.e. You can change a LB for a LB, WR for a WR, etc. These changes must be posted on the forums and approved by the Commissioner(s) based on the tier and the applied attributes the players logically fit into.

10. You may change your complete roster between seasons, but those changes must be posted on the forums and approved by the Commissioner(s) based on the tier and the applied attributes the players logically fit into.

11. When creating your players in APF you must use correct height, weight, and jersey number. Use ESPN or NFL.com as sources for the data.

Tiebreak Rules (Adopted and mirror the NFL rules)

1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs);
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division;
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference;
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, if applicable;
5. Best net points in division games;
6. Best net points in all games;
7. Strength of schedule;
8. Best net touchdowns in all games;
9. Coin toss.

Scheduling

You are always required to send a XBLM to your opponent at least one day after the deadline is announced. You are also strongly encouraged to use both site PM and the AFSL contact thread on the forums. This is very important. You are strongly advised to copy the commissioner(s) on each attempt to reach your opponent. This in effect will CYA if a deadline is missed. Again, very important! If you are having difficulties scheduling a game let the commissioner(s) know.

If you will be unavailable for a period of time you must notify the commissioner(s) and post a message in the AFSL “Out of Office” forum indicating the time you will be unavailable to play. Communication is very important.

Owners will have a deadline of seven (7) days to play each game. Once a new week is opened on the schedule the deadline will be posted in the appropriate forum, on League Daddy, and sent to each owner via XBLM and/or site PM. Ideally we would prefer games to be played faster (within 5 days) but a maximum and fair time frame must be used.

Each owner that does not play their scheduled game within this seven (7) day deadline will receive a LOSS on their record. The owner that missed the deadline must contact the commissioner(s) and submit a deadline missed report (DMR), which is provided on our home site www.360premierleagues.com via link located at the top of the homepage. If a DMR is not submitted within 24 hours after the missed deadline and approved by the commissioner(s) the owner will receive a yellow card league infraction. Accumulate three (3) yellow cards and you will be given a red card league infraction and removed from the league. If you receive two consecutive yellow cards you will be given a red card league infraction and removed from the league. Yellow cards are cumulative and follow you through your career. I think this rule is understandable and each owner realizes that the league should not be held up for one (1) owner.

Each game related to the above rule will be simmed and there will be no stats for a simmed game for either owner.

Season Schedule

Season I schedule will consist of 10 games. Owners will play each team in their division and the other games outside your division.

Teams in the MFC will have 3 games out of the EFC.

The North East division teams will have two out of MFC.

The East division teams will have 1 out of the MFC.

Playoffs will consist of 8 teams. 4 teams from the Midwest Football Conference and 4 teams from the Eastern Football Conference. A winner from each Division and 2 wild cards.

Wildcard winners will be determined based on the tiebreak rules detailed above. Each conference champion will receive a first round bye.

All playoffs will be within conference with the winner from each conference playing in the Superbowl.

Disciplinary Actions

360 Premier Leagues reserves the right to remove owners immediately if a situation warrants such action. All commissioner(s) decisions are final.

Disconnects

In the event of a disconnect, the two owners must get together and work out the best solution. Generally speaking, the idea is to best replicate the situation as it was before the disconnect. Obviously if there is a disconnect right after kickoff or early in a scoreless game, the two coaches can agree to start over from the beginning.

Player and Team Statistics - League Daddy

1. All appropriate and expected player and team stats will be collected and displayed for all owners. Stats can be expanded or contracted after the season by unanimous league owner vote.
2. This league uses the League Daddy website for all statistics, standings, schedules, rankings etc.

3. Required statistics will be announced and stat forms are provided on League Daddy.
4. After each played game both owners MUST write down or input their stats for that game into League Daddy.

5. Each owner has 24 hours after game completion to input their stats into League Daddy.

6. Intentionally inputting incorrect stats will result in immediate ejection from the league.

Feedback

Feedback is automatically required by 2k sports after each game.

One of three ratings are required for your opponent:
1. Positive;
2. Neutral;
3. Negative.

Your game feedback should answer the following questions:

1. Did your opponent wear a headset?
2. Did your opponent uphold the principles of fair play and sportsmanship?
3. Was scheduling the game difficult or easy?
4. Did your opponent play a sim-style game?
5. Did your opponent take advantage of any known “glitch” or “cheese”?
6. Did your opponent have a good attitude?

No headset is an automatic neutral feedback. Headsets are mandatory for all league games. The use offensive language and derogatory comments is strictly prohibited and will be grounds for immediate removal from the league. Act like an adult.

All neutral or negative feedback must be reported to the commissioner(s) along with the reason(s) for leaving the respective feedback.
